Alma

11/16
Alma 1: read in temple
Alma 2: read in temple
Alma 3: read in temple

11/17:
Alma 4: Year 6 of judged: Peaceful, but sad for lost -- Year 7: baptisms -- Year 8: contention & pride -- Year 9: trying to calm contentions

Alma 5: Alma the younger testifies and recounts his father's story - repent! - the holy ghost reveals much - stop being so prideful!
17 Or do ye aimagine to yourselves that ye can lie unto the Lord in that day, and bsay—Lord, our works have been righteous works upon the face of the earth—and that he will save you?
18 Or otherwise, can ye imagine yourselves brought before the tribunal of God with your souls filled with guilt and remorse, having a remembrance of all your guilt, yea, a perfect aremembrance of all your wickedness, yea, a remembrance that ye have set at defiance the commandments of God?
19 I say unto you, can ye look up to God at that day with a pure heart and clean hands? I say unto you, can you look up, having the aimage of God engraven upon your countenances?

Alma 6: "cleansing" the church - blotting out those who weren't faithful --

Alma 7:
9 But behold, the Spirit hath said this much unto me, saying: Cry unto this people, saying—aRepent ye, and prepare the way of the Lord, and walk in his paths, which are straight; for behold, the kingdom of heaven is at hand, and the Son of God bcometh upon the face of the earth.
10 And behold, he shall be aborn of Mary, at bJerusalem which is the cland of our forefathers, she being a dvirgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and econceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God.

Alma 8: Alma visits Ammonihah - very prideful people - Alma want to baptise them and bring them to the Lord -- Alma peaces out -- Angel comes and tell Alma to go back and try again!

11/18
Alma 9: Alma teaches people of Ammonihah - they want to attack him, he wants to teach of repentance and remembrance

Alma 10: Amulek gives testimony to back up Alma

Alma 11: Repent and don't steal - explanation of money -- Zeezrom tries to trap Amulek in a lie

Alma 12: Zeezrom realizes his mistakes - repents and seeks answers for genuine questions -- Alma teaches the people of resurrection

Alma 13: Many faithful take office of High Priests

Alma 14: Alma & Amulek are done preaching - many believed, but many hated them - imprisoned them -- burned believers and all their records -- Alma and Amulek escape & slay their imprisioners
O Lord, bgive us strength according to our faith which is in Christ, even unto cdeliverance.
Alma 15: Alma heals Zeezrom - people rejoice

Alma 16: Lamanites attack Ammonihah
Alma 17: Sons of Mosiah go preach to Lamanites - Ammon goes to serve King Lamoni - Ammon uses God's power to protect the kings flocks

11/19
Alma 18: Ammon teaches King Lamoni the gospel
Alma 19: The Queen begs Ammon to do something about the King - all 3 fall to the earth in God's power -- many are converted
Alma 20: Lamoni & Ammon start to journey to free Ammon's brothers from prison, Lamoni's father tries to interfere - doesn't go so well

11/21
Alma 21: Aaron tries to teach Amalikites - few believed and Aaron & his bros are put in prison

12/2
Alma 22: King Lamoni'sFather spares Ammon's brothers - they teach the king the gospel and he believes!
15 And it came to pass that after Aaron had expounded these things unto him, the king said: aWhat shall I do that I may have this eternal life of which thou hast spoken? Yea, what shall I do that I may be bborn of God, having this wicked spirit crooted out of my breast, and receive his Spirit, that I may be filled with joy, that I may not be cast off at the last day? Behold, said he, I will give up dall that I possess, yea, I will forsake my kingdom, that I may receive this great joy.
16 But Aaron said unto him: If thou desirest this thing, if thou wilt abow down before God, yea, if thou wilt repent of all thy sins, and will bow down before God, and call on his name in faith, believing that ye shall receive, then shalt thou receive the bhope which thou desirest.

Alma 23: Religious freedom! Aaron and bros teach - Anti-Nephi-Lehites lay down weapons forever (in repentance)

Alma 24: Anti-Nephi-Lehites are going to be attacked - have faith in God and refuse to take arms against Lamanites - Lamanites attack, and realize they wont defend themselves

True repentance:
15 Oh, how merciful is our God! And now behold, since it has been as much as we could do to get our stains taken away from us, and our swords are made bright, let us ahide them away that they may be kept bright, as a testimony to our God at the last day, or at the day that we shall be brought to stand before him to be judged, that we have not stained our swords in the blood of our brethren since he imparted his word unto us and has made us bclean thereby.
Alma 25: Lamanites who haven't converted are MAD y'all - Ammon & brothers rejoice in the Lord's power and kindness

12/6
Alma 26:
12 Yea, I know that I am anothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will bnot boast of myself, but I will cboast of my God, for in his dstrength I can do all ethings; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever.
Alma 27: Ammon & people of the Lord peace out! -> go to Jershon -> are called "people of ammon"

12/17
Alma 28: Lots of people killed in battle

Alma 29: Alma begs for the ability to repent - something given freely to us!
Why should I desire that I were an angel, that I could speak unto all the ends of the earth?
Alma 30: People are pretty righteous for a couple years -> Korihor comes and ruins everything -> Korihor preeches to Nephites and convinces many -> preaches to people of Ammon & Gideon & is brought in bondage to the high priest each time -> sent him to Alma (cheif judge & governor of all land) --- Alma gives a really good testimony 37-~49 > Korihor requires a sign to believe -> Alma strikes him dumb -> he then believes and dies
For thus saith the scripture: aChoose ye this day, whom ye will serve.
Now if a man desired to serve God, it was his privilege; or rather, if he believed in God it was his privilege to serve him; but if he did not believe in him there was no law to punish him.

Alma 31: Zoramites (under Alma) are pretty wicked - Rameumptom (high 1 person tower to "praise God") - very prideful - Alma gives a very faithful and empathetic prayer!
31 O Lord, my heart is exceedingly sorrowful; wilt thou comfort my soul ain Christ. O Lord, wilt thou grant unto me that I may have strength, that I may suffer with patience these bafflictions which shall come upon me, because of the iniquity of this people.
32 O Lord, wilt thou comfort my soul, and give unto me success, and also my fellow laborers who are with me—yea, Ammon, and Aaron, and Omner, and also aAmulek and Zeezrom, and also my btwo sons—yea, even all these wilt thou comfort, O Lord. Yea, wilt thou comfort their souls in Christ.
Alma 32: Alma teaches the poor about humility - seed == faith
10 Behold I say unto you, do ye suppose that ye acannot worship God save it be in your synagogues only?
11 And moreover, I would ask, do ye suppose that ye must not worship God only aonce in a week?
1/5:
Alma 33: pray
8 Yea, thou art merciful unto thy children when they cry unto thee, to be heard of thee and not of men, and thou wilt hear them

Alma 34: Amulek talks about the atonement - Christ's sacrifice brings salvation, faith leads you to that salvation - importance of prayer and charity -- do not put off repentance and testimony building

Alma 35: lots of tension

Alma 37: Alma talks about the plates and their purpose - testament of Christ and his miracles - prophesizes of Joseph Smith -- "see that ye blook to God and live."

Alma 38: Alma speaking to son Shiblon -- trust God to "deliver [you] out of your trials"
Do not say: O God, I thank thee that we are abetter than our brethren; but rather say: O Lord, forgive my bunworthiness, and remember my brethren in mercy—yea, acknowledge your unworthiness before God at all times.

1/7:

Alma 39: Alma speaking to son Corianton - repent
But behold, ye cannot ahide your crimes from God; and except ye repent they will stand as a testimony against you at the last day.

Alma 40: We will all be resurrected after death: death -> time of misery/happiness -> body & spirit reunited -> judgment before God

Alma 41: Men are judged according to their works & desires: restoration - bring back the same state (evil->evil, good->good, etc)

1/8:
Alma 42: Fall of Adam - opposition: repentance & punishment - do not deny the justice of God with excuses

Alma 43: Lamanites attack, Nephites (w/ people of Ammon) defend their liberties - people of Ammon didn't fight, but assisted with the armies needs - LOTS of destruction, mostly Lamanites falling -

Alma 44: Moroni tries to convince Zerahemnah (the lamanite army leader) - almost peaceful, but then Zerahemnah was too proud and cocky, so lots of Lamanites lost their lives

1/16:
Alma 45: Alma warning Helaman about the state of the future - lots of sinning - Alma leaves and probably dies at some point - Helaman goes to preach word of God, didn't super listen

Alma 46: Amalickiah and crew don't like Helaman or what he's preaching - wanted to destroy church - Moroni mad - title of liberty: Moroni's coat piece saying "in In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children" - lots of people covenant to be righteous - Amalickiah flees,

Alma 47: Amalickiah and crew go to Lamanites, and angered them to battle - put Amalickiah wanted to be king - does some sneaky things - becomes 2nd in command - kills 1st in command & becomes 1st - killed the king secretly - became king of Lamanites by marrying dead king's wife - very hamletish
