CHRIST IS EVERYTHING

The JOY of Easter weekend:

Sometimes, life is rough and it's hard to find any joy or peace. With all the chaos of the world, and especially during such glorious times of the year as this Easter weekend, it's important to remember what matters most - CHRIST. In my opinion, Easter is the happiest holiday. It's three day after Christ hung on the cross and three days after he knelt in the Garden of Gethsemane, and took upon himself all the sins and pain of the world. Imagine experiencing all of your personal failures and hardships and pains throughout your whole life in one moment, and then multiplying that by every single person who will and has lived. Christ WILLINGLY suffered for each of us, so that we don't have to. Easter is the joyous day that Jesus Christ rose up and was alive again, and made it possible for us to do the same one day.

Three of my favorite resurrection/Easter scriptures:
  • 1 Cor 15:20-22 - "But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made ALIVE
  • 2 Nephi 25:13 - "Behold, they will crucify him; and after he is laid in a sepulchre for the space of three days he shall rise from the dead, with healing in his wings; and all those who shall believe on his name shall be saved in the kingdom of God. Wherefore, my soul delighteth to prophesy concerning him, for I have seen his day, and my heart doth magnify his holy name."
  • Matthew 28:6 - "He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay."

One of my (new) favorite quotes about Easter was given by the Prophet of the LDS church, President Tomas S. Monson, and it says:
After the Savior was crucified and His body had lain in the tomb for three days, the spirit again entered. The stone was rolled away, and the resurrected Redeemer walked forth, clothed with an immortal body of flesh and bones. The answer to Job’s question, “If a man die, shall he live again?” came when Mary and others approached the tomb and saw two men in shining garments who spoke to them: “Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen.” As the result of Christ’s victory over the grave, we shall all be resurrected.
In the LDS church, we have a document called The Living Christ (you can read it here if you're interested). It's a testimony of our church leaders of Christ. There is such a feeling of love and peace while reading it, but I want to focus on one thing - the names and phrases that define Christ. During my last EFY (an LDS summer camp), we had a lesson on the Living Christ, and I remember the strong spirit in the chapel as our counselor taught of this concept.

Here is a most of them (that I found at least):
  • The Living Christ
  • The Great Jehovah of the Old Testament
  • The Messiah of the New Testament
  • The Creator of the Earth
  • Firstborn of the Father
  • Only Begotten Son in the flesh
  • Only Begotten of the Father
  • The Redeemer of the World
  • Risen Lord
  • Advocate
  • The First and the Last
  • The Immortal Son of God
  • The Great King Immanuel
  • The Light
  • The Life
  • The Hope
  • His Divine Son
  • The Firstfruits of them that slept
  • The Chief Cornerstone
  • The Judge
  • Righteous Leader
  • Teacher
  • Minister
  • Brother
  • The Path to Happiness
You can choose which label you want to know Him by what you need Him to be at different points in your lives, but He will always be your Brother and your way back home. (Personally, right now my favorite is Advocate because it helps me remember that someone always has my back and supports me no matter what)

Christ is EVERYTHING. He died for us - ALL OF US. Because He made the ultimate sacrifice; because He took upon himself all the sins and pain of the world; because He loved us and continues to love us unconditionally, we can not only have joy in this life, but we can carry that happiness to the next life, and be with Him again. Life won't be easy, but through our Advocate, our Teacher, our Father, our Lord, it will be overfilling with joy. As long as we remember what matters most, and who is always with us, we will always be alright. Whatever trial or hardship you might be going through, I beg of you to talk to your loving Father in heaven. Even if you have never before prayed to Him, I promise, that if you ask Him for help with a sincere intent, He will ALWAYS be there for you individually because CHRIST LOVES YOU SO MUCH.
